£85.9bn wealth transfer to the rich.

Since 2022 UK govt has sold gilts/bonds acquired with QE at a loss.

It is also paying interest to banks on deposits they hold with the Bank of England to facilitate interbank transactions. Unnecessary.

£85.9bn enriched the rich, inflicted harms on others.

Non-violent protesters should not have to disavow motives at trial, study says Academics say UK defendants should be able to explain reasons for their actions and not have to express remorse

"The notion of incentivising protesters to lie – to affect remorse for conviction views – is both madness and consistent with a legal system that protects those who destroy the planet for personal enrichment and attacks those who selflessly try to save it."

How we treat people matters - from the DWP's spirit crushing approach to the #CarersAllowanceOverpaymentsScandal, to the way this government has rolled out today's welfare cuts - real people are impacted and worried sick. Today I put this to the Secretary of State.

If the Tories had been in power, Labour would be SCREAMING about the unfairness of yesterday's announced welfare cuts.

Instead we have the bizarre and unedifying spectacle of the Tories going "yes, that's a good start, but the cuts don't go far enough".

There's no Opposition when you don't oppose.

Instead of slashing welfare and disability benefits — forcing more disabled people and children into poverty — the government could introduce a 2% tax on assets over £10 million.

It would raise £24 billion — five times the savings from these cuts.

This is austerity 2.0

People on disability benefit don't store their money off-shore, they use the money locally to enable their daily life.

Disability benefit is very hard to get. Many people with disabilities go without because they already can't navigate the difficult system, or the system is too harsh.

Scores of Labour MPs raise concerns over welfare changes.

Cuts are a political choice, as there are alternatives.

Please ramp up pressure on local/nearby Labour MPs.

Insist on meeting them face-to-face.

UK Govt assault on the poor & disabled in context.

In 2024-25, the govt spending £1,276.2bn.

Benefit cut will save £1bn a year. Hardly significant.

It can have up to £20bn by taxing capital gains and dividends at the same rate as wages, and charging NIC. But won't do it.

Political choice.
