Three women marching. The woman in the back is carrying her baby, the woman in the middle is carrying a bowl of bread and a fistful of roses. The woman in front is carrying a sign that says βhearts starve as well as bodes give us bread but give us roses.β
Okay. Iβm walking away from it now and calling it done.

Oh my god. I had these when I was a kid. All of them. I havenβt thought about them inβ¦ 35 yrs?
Sorry for the deluge of posts, but I've been meaning to share this. It's not just oil held up in the Strait of Hormuz.
The data economy has made us dumber in ways that also make us vulnerable to authoritarian takover. We are have become both cynical and gullible in the sense we think we are too jaded be fooled and as a result are tricked more easily www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...
Thatβs so fucking unhinged.
Three women marching for bread and roses
βOur lives shall not be sweated
from birth until life closes;
Hearts starve as well as bodies;
give us bread, but give us roses.β

Used to be that we saw some improvement from generation to generation. But I genuinely think that a lot of cishet men who are in their 20s now are much worse and MORE misogynistic than they were 20 yrs ago. Or maybe theyβre just more honest about it. Who knows. But I blame the red pill grifters.
And toss a grenade over your shoulder when you do.

βHappyβ International Womenβs Day, I guess. Most women I speak to these days are filled with rage, and for good reason. Thereβs still so much to do, I want better for women and girls π₯
βThe MAGA movement is so in love with retribution that it will entertain itself by torturing a digital voodoo doll of the political enemy.β
Women of the world uniting, demanding not just what we need to survive, but demanding what we need to create a world worth living in.
"As we go marching, marching, unnumbered women dead
Go crying through our singing their ancient cry for bread.
Small art and love and beauty their drudging spirits knew.
Yes, it is bread we fight for. But we fight for roses too."
It is not enough just to survive. People deserve to live well.
Happy International Women's Day to all who celebrate! Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL women and girls.βπΏ
If you're wondering how bad things were at Pixar for women, the answer is pretty horrifyingly bad.
Ahhh! So cool!

the Austin mass shooter was a Tesla employee who assaulted a coworker during a company-allowed prayer break late last year
the company refused to give the victim her assailant's name so she could press charges, and he went on to become a mass shooter

My dadβs final years were filled with love and joy. If it werenβt for @kumail.bsky.social, & all the people who donated, he wouldnβt have had that.
And for that reason, Iβll be forever grateful. (7/7)
Dad playing a ukulele
Kids showing grandpa their Halloween costumes.
Dad wearing his favorite cap
In his modified wheelchair & portable vent, Dad was able to get out of the hospital bed and enjoy the simple things we all take for granted: a stroll in the autumn leaves, going to the park with the kids, eating at a cafe. He even got to go to an F1 race in Montreal! (6/7)
Dad about to fly
Dad crying after he landed in VT and seeing us.
But Kumail posted our fundraiser to his Twitter account. And because of that, we were able to raise enough money to relocate my dad to VT.
Dad lived another 6 years up here with us. He got to watch his grandkids grow, he made new friends, & got to spend milestones & holidays with his family. (5/7)
We found a charity that would airlift my dad to VT at cost (volunteer pilot, volunteer nurse, volunteer respiratory therapist)β but it was still nearly $15,000. We couldnβt afford that on our own. So we started a GoFundMe. I didnβt expect much, tbh. It was a lot of money. (4/7)
Docs had to intubate him, which meant he literally lost his voice & the ability to advocate for himself. I flew to FL a lot, but it was costly. We needed to move him to VT, but couldnβt by regular means, since he needed a ventilator to breathe. Health insurance refused to pay for transport. (3/7)
Well, in 2018, my dad got really ill. Degenerative neurological condition. He lost the ability to walk, hold up his head, or breathe on his own. He was living in FL alone, since my stepmom had died a few years before. I was living in VT with a baby & a preschooler.
