Candlemas also the feast of the Purification of Mary. What does that mean?
The prayer in this image is a bit faint. It speaks of labour pain as a punishment for Eve's sin. Blood after childbirth is unclean and needs "purifying".

Through the strength of her faith, Brigid blessed her, making the pregnancy disappear, “without coming to birth, and without pain.”
