Okay hivemind, little assist? Back in the day, 98-99-ish, the music dives I went to would play a version of Blister In The Sun that was a lot more rockier than the Violent Femmes original.

Any idea who did that?

Trying to clear up my iPad (poor thing is overheating a LOT these days) and stumbled across this. I'd have done this before the show proper dropped, I think.

It's not terrible for an old scribble, is it?

Black Cat! (I do quite like doing these ink backgrounds!)

It was managed, yes, but nowhere near as much as now.
And as I said further down, I LIKED the Aus GP, I just dont want them to converge on the optimum management strategy too quickly.
Its hard to get into nuance on social media, and I dont want to come off as argumentative, so I'll leave it there..

In a way, yeah. The cars were designed to last 200 miles and not much further, and they were less regulated on what tires they could put on, so someone could try and no stop a race by going slower, but then hope that would save on the stop time of someone on softer tires.

Make cars that are harder to drive, but then you should have to drive the wheels off them. And for a bit Charles and George were doing that and it was grand.
I just dont want F1 to focus on the energy management to the point that thats all we talk about and the cars are all using the engine the same

Which is to say: I liked yesterday's race.
My dumb monkey brain understood enough to know that they were passing like that because they were using battery at different parts of the track, and thats good, thats fine. It was exciting!

Now, they go as slowly as they can and they're (comparitively) nowhere near the barriers. Everyone can do it. Prost and Stewart no doubt love it!

But for fans like me, it's not working. Energy management, tyre management, fuel management... It's not what gets the blood pumping, is it?

Like, rose-tinted glasses aside, I will always prefer 90's F1 because those cars were harder to drive, they were pushed to the limits and drivers made mistakes. Monaco used to be a fun challenge because they had to be flat out 100% of the distance and people crashed because they couldn't do it.

Been following F1 since 91/92, it is MY sport and I love it and I could not give two shits about the technical side.
I want the human element, of fighting and racing each other at 200mph pushing to the limit.
Never cared about how you build an engine, never will.

Is there a reason why, when I'm trying to highlight some text to italicise it in Word, the program automatically decides to include the start or end of the words around it as well?

My latest Tarantulas commission is a @benpirrie.bsky.social original. This would look good on a wall draped with cobwebs and dimly lit by a single candle.

Very not happy about that. First time I've transformed him in a while.

I'm unusually quiet right now while I wait in a couple of things. Good time to sneak in a commission if anyone is hankering for such a thing. Prices unchanged since '25, so here's last year's price list.
