I grew up in a Sola Scriptura household. We had a couple bookcases of commentaries and reference materials.
I never understood why we needed a home library if the Bible was actually inerrant, infallible, and self-interpreting.

I sat on the other side of the table for fourteen years alongside educators who advocated for the resources for students to achieve and develop skills to keep achieving after school. I feel like what I'm sitting through now as a parent is borderline malpractice. And it's state policy.
Our previous two residences both considered our child's gap in achievement between English and Math to be cause for remediation. Here, "they're passing, so what's the problem?".
My child is categorized as deaf / hard of hearing. We came from a state that included self-advocacy training and regular reviews of faculty responsibility. Here, that's considered borderline excessive.
IEP meetings are expensive. Professional Educational Advocates charge like lawyers but are about the only way to get your child the accommodations they need written into an IEP instead of chucked into a 504 the system can ignore.

Coming to my kids' concerts reminds me of why I left K-12. The concerts are exemplary and I'm one proud papa. The kids yelling from the balcony like it's a basketball game has caused my heart rate to spike and I've caught myself feeling for the referral pad I haven't had in a decade now.
I am thoroughly enjoying teaching in an anti-conservatory music program. My music majors and minors are better for getting to experience a well-rounded liberal arts education.
Been thinking about next steps in my career lately. I am finally at a school where I feel empowered to achieve my goals, I just don't know how exactly to get there. Or who to talk to about to learn how.

I'm really saddened by the large-scale enshitification of Android "news" sites. I remember writing multi page analysis of the number of clicks it took to complete tasks in different launchers and collaborating on detailed kernel releases. Now, it's single sentence paragraphs on app color choices.
My dad spent my youth threatening to kick me out of the house and cut me off financially and warned me that God would punish me. I missed out on so many wonderful possibilities because of that fear.

I currently find myself the target of name calling and insults by modern conservatives because I stood up for the Constitution and Rule of Law in supporting today's protests.
