🧵my one wish as an advocate and agent is for other authors to receive the time and dedication they deserve and I need to step aside so my authors can receive that. I am sad to go and hope to come back to agenting in the future but now is unfortunately not the right time for me.

🧵I am so honored to have been in this position and been able to have so many wonderful people submit to me and to grow my relationships with my authors. However, I am in a place where I can no longer provide the time and dedication necessary to be a true champion.

🧵It’s with a heavy heart that I announce I’ll be off boarding my position with Metamorphosis Literary as an agent in May. It’s been such a privilege to work with the amazing agents there and the wonderful authors who let me be their advocate and trusted me with their work.

I think about this all the time

I realize adults read YA but I think we NEED to be very careful we’re not alienating the teens these books are supposed to be for.
Which is what I’m seeing with YA books that have toxic romances at their core and a lack of consent.
Is that the kind of relationship you hope for for teen girls? 🤨

#QueryTip When sending your queries, for me anyway, one of the most important aspects is WHAT ARE THE STAKES. What might the character win or lose by overcoming whatever their obstacle is. And the higher the stakes, the better. But without them at all—or very low stakes—I have to pass. Remember it!!

To be honest, I can sign an amazing author with so much potential that only had a few full requests and not fall in love with a story that received 25 so please don’t let that number get you down. The right advocate will not care about something like that.
