Great, this is gonna be the new version of Boomer email forwards
My mother sent me an email telling me to go on Facebook to see AI making Han Solo dance as Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing, and I would prefer not to do that.
It is once again my delight to reveal a new chapter of the Reign of the Empire trilogy, Edge of the Abyss by @rebeccaroanhorse.bsky.socialβand featuring a few familiar faces from a little TV show you may have heard about, Andor
Screenshot of four different jobs from the NY Mag feature about what people make in NYC: "Home Health Aide $23,000 I've been a home health aide for ten years. My main patient last year was in Brooklyn. I spent most of my time taking care of her. I worked two days a week, and I was being paid for 13 hours of work each day - my agency, Loyal Home Care, budgets eight hours of sleep and three hours for mealtimes into our wages. But I was basically working 24 hours a day. She was active, and I was worried she would fall, so I would watch her all day and night. This is a pretty common experience for health aides. The agency can deny our overtime, but you can't deny a patient. When they say, "Oh, I need a drink of water; I need to use the bathroom," how could you possibly say "no" to them? Bronx Day-Care Worker $31,000 $16,600 from day-care profits $14,400 from trainings and consulting Last year, I lost a lot of kids. I live in the Bronx, and a bunch of families in my neighborhood lost their child-care vouchers. We're talking about people who make as much as I do; most of the moms I work with are home health aides. They can't afford full-time child care. If I have 16 kids, I can pay myself for 40 hours of work. But last year, I didn't, and obviously I'm still doing the same amount of work. I've been running the day care out of my home for more than seven years. It's a profession I entered out of necessity and have stayed in out of passion. I pay for everything - food, cleaning supplies, toys - and we have to meet the same requirements as a large company in terms of paying for liability insurance, which can feel pointless in this industry. I mean, if something happens to one of my children, I lose my license. End of story."
It's all so clear
Aaaargh I just found out Fran Lebowitz is doing a talk in SF next week...and that it's sold out. I AM BEREFT.
MadHouse 111 (804)
He's great and I hope he doesn't start getting pigeon-holed in this type of role. (Not that there's anything wrong with this type of role. I just want more than only that for him.)
This mainly seems like a preview of the kind of role Kyle Chandler is going to play for the rest of his life
Who will think of the selfless billionaires

In-world-oral-histories hive rise up! (I know you're out there)
Does Heather Gay's five-book deal (five!!) with Podium make her the first Real Housewife to write a novel, or am I forgetting someone?
Also how can you not love that Random House shockingly fired her, Penguin scooped her up and gave her her own imprint, and one of the imprint's inaugural books was Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow. LEGEND.
Was saddened to see publishing legend Ann Godoff died. (Fuck cancer.) I was at Penguin when she started Penguin Press, and as part of her welcome to the company she gave an internal talk about editing, and publishing, and I still remember, decades later, being starstruck by how damn smart she was.
Thereβs several reasons that business and public figures began immediately associating WFH with laziness and slacking, one is that these are things they already believe about disabled/chronically ill folk, and they hope you do, too.
Hey if you are a fan of Ian Doescher's William Shakespeare's Star Wars books, wanted to let you know that "The Mandalorian of Nevarro" releases in April, covering season 1!

Jerry Maguire is on TV and watching all these years later at my age is realizing Kelly Preston was right. I hope she traded up.
Action figure of a pink Ewok with wings and a bow and arrow
My husband gave me this Valentineβs Day Ewok which I did not know was a thing. Needless to say Iβm delighted
This is an incredible self-own.
Every single time my parents ask me, "did you see on Facebook--" I say "I don't go on Facebook." They keep asking though.
My story ties in all of the What If collection's standalone novels, featuring the brilliant work of @authoroux.bsky.social, @seananmcguire.bsky.social, @mikechenwriter.bsky.social and @beccapodos.bsky.social. Seriously GO read them all! www.penguinrandomhouse.com/series/E8D/w...
things have not changed here. please, if youβre not in minnesota, do not look away. please prepare where you are. this is what theyβll do to your community next.
These are great. I'm very tempted by Baroness or Scarlett. Or Couple Goals! Decisions decisions.
As a sticky toffee pudding fan I can say with confidence that this man and I would be close friends.
Never expected my soulmate to be an Italian figure skater, but here we are
just an update from when we talked to the reporter: weβve now successfully connected over 100 families for direct, peer to peer rent adoption. weβve collected and immediately distributedβ¦a lot.
it is a drop in the bucket, but all of this is. everyone is just doing what they can.
As usual, Emma Thompson says it right.
I disagree
An adorable reminder that representation matters.
