Feel very lucky to have been there...pushing the limits of the instruments...the replacement conductor did amazingly well...and both lead violinists were breathtaking

Oh Amy..with the loss of Jamie @movingslowly.bsky.social
recently, this must have been so devastating. Thank you for sharing...and your words in Country Diary. Having lost my best friend when she was in her 40s, I felt bereft...but now hear her at apt moments, and laugh at memories. Much love.

Quick! Before the light, such as it is, fails, spend an hour counting the birds in your backyard, garden or park...Derbyshire's down the results' table at the moment...let's get more citizen science done!

Middleton Moor yesterday. We explored the possibilities, the future, and the past. It will improve for biodiversity and connect. More importantly, it is easy to access and people will be able to enjoy it.

β€˜A last resort’: is culling foxes the only way to save Britain’s vanishing curlews? Keeping predator numbers down may be last hope for the ground-nesting birds – but critics say real problem is farming practices

Mary Colwell asks whether it's time to talk about a fox cull. I argue it's time to talk about the absurd annual release of 60 Million non-native gamebirds that undoubtedly supports the over-abundance of foxes & other mesopredators.
