page 21 panel 1 : geo and the nomad trader or leader are talking, geo stands to the left and trader on the right. they are talking in upside down text to try to depict the nomad's language. Geo looks uncertain, sheepish, embarassed. trader says "Do... Do.. you have any idea how much FUCKING danger you have put us all in by bringing that thing here" Geo says "Well, I have... suspicions, that she might have eaten people, and have tried to get to the bottom of it, but..." panel 2 : trader says "You're out of the loop. These things aren't like regular cannibals or predators, they're worse. They only eat you after they're done doing everything else to you." Geo says "What do you mean by "everything else"? panel 3: The trader's eyestalks stretch zoom in close to Geo's face, and waves a tendril in the air. Geo looks intimidated. Trader says "Bad things! A variety of VERY bad things!"

page 22 panel 1 : Geo suddenly looks skeptical. He says "Now wait a moment, what do they do to people, "everything else" or "a variety of bad things"? trader responds "what?" geo adds ""everything else" includes "everything", which includes GOOD things too! So which is it? panel 2: The eyes on the end of the trader's eyestalks now look angry. The trader says "I- this isn't the time to nitpick my choice of words. Lead that thing out of here and far away or we will take steps to defend ourselves from it and from YOU." Geo looks defeated, and says "oh... okay" panel 3: at this point, the language switches back to rightside up because the trader is no longer conversing. The trader is in the background on the right side of the panel looking angry. Geo is walking away from them, towards Millie, who is in the left side of the panel facing away from the viewer. Millie says "Geo, did you offend them? You know we can't afford to be making enemies." Geo says "Well, they seem alarmed by Gathy's presence."

page 23 Panel 1: Millie stands to the left side of the panel and Geo to the right side. Millie says "She is a bit of a striking and imposing figure!" Geo replies "No, the nomads identify her as a type of "Great Pale Beast" which does terrible things to people and then eats them." Millie replies "Well! That mostly matches what she's told us of herself. It's fortunate she was so forthcoming." Panel 2: Geo looks frustrated. Geo says "I worry we may be foolish to keep her around, yet if we press the issue, we lack the muscle to actually enforce it and may only provoke retaliation." Millie says "Did I ever tell you about what happened to people in the olden days when they tried to keep powerful wild animals as pets?" Geo answers "Horrible death?" Millie says "Yep!" Panel 3 : Millie says "the course of action is up to you and Becca, I think. You two are the ones made of meat... I'll miss you and all, but it's not like Gathy can digest me." Geo looks annoyed, and replies "Are you really sure about that?"

Page 24 panel 1: in the top left of this panel, a small narration text box says "Now back to these two". because the perspective has switched back to keeping an eye on Gathy and Becca. Thank goodness! We're finally back to the best and most interesting and beautiful character in the story, Gathy. Gathy stands impassively at the left side of the panel, and Becca points a finger upward and opens her beak wide on the right side of the panel. Gathy says "If you want to talk, tell me a useful fact." Becca says "Alright! Those people the others are trading with are called nomads, that means they travel around many lands. They have to be clever and tough to survive in different places." Gathy says "Okay." Panel 2: Becca tips her head back. a thought bubble emerging from her says "Just "okay"? Am I so boring!? No!!!" Becca speaks aloud: "W-well and, these dusty plains we've been walking across all day, are called "the bloodsalt flats", because they're salty, and red like blood, due to the rust of all the steel cities and steel wagons which covered the world in ancient days." Gathy replies "Then why its not named "rust flats"?" Panel 3: a thought bubble emerging from Becca says "Finally! She's interested enough to ask a question!" Becca speaks aloud: "The mythic explanation for the color is that a ton of God's Blood puddled here and dried up, and most people really like the more romantic name." Gathy puts a hand up to her mouth, or picks at her teeth with her claws, depending on how you look at it. Gathy says "Oh! Mother taught us a similar history!"
