Old farthing with bird on it
Animals on money?
Perish the thought that patriotic British people would ever countenance such a thing.

Happy #NationalHedgehogDay π₯Ί
This little Egyptian faience model of a hedgehog is from a tomb at Abydos, and was made around 1,500β1,300 BCE.
Hedgehogs had a favourable reputation in ancient Egypt, and were often seen as a symbol of rebirth and renewal of life.
ICE's $100M ad campaign is using the same playbook as the Gestapo & Stasi. The goal? To make repression sound reasonable and patriotic.
Monochrome image of the road from Princetown to Yelverton on Dartmoor. The rain had just stopped and the sun was doing it's best to break through.
The sun will eventually return and bring colour back to Dartmoor.

Plucked up the courage to run a bath this morning. My unheated bathroom = very cold bathroom. Made me think of this.
Blue and white Earth stands out against blackness over the gray lunar landscape as seen from orbit.
Do you remember the famous #Earthrise photo from #Apollo8? On Christmas Eve in 1968, William Anders turned his camera toward Earth and captured the legendary photo. It showed humans a new perspective, with the moon in the foreground and Earth floating in distant space. ππππΈ

The picture shows six needles of different sizes. They were made of bone resemble their modern descendants with an eye at one end and a tapered end.
Things used in everyday life are the real archaeological treasures! These sewing #needles were made from animal bone some 15,000 years ago. Some designs simply don't need to be improved, because form and functions were perfectly matched from the start. Form follows function! π§΅1/2

I was speaking at an event at @rammuseum.bsky.social last night which was a great opportunity to see Sarah Gillespieβs recent artwork about the UK decline of moths and, in particular, Garden Tiger. Lovely, thought-provoking piece #teammoth
Have not been able to do any #HedgeLaying for some time because of hip problems, so good to be out again. Near Modbury, #Devon this weekend. The sun shone. Thanks to @chris.parkes.photo for the pic. I'm in the background with hair getting in my eyes.
Morning all.
