DoJ cases against protesters keep collapsing as officers’ lies are exposed in court String of embarrassing defeats for prosecutors as experts condemn DoJ effort to cast people as ‘violent perpetrators’

"In Chicago, of 92 people arrested for assaulting or impeding officers last fall, 74 cases have resulted in no charges; in 13 cases, charges were filed and dismissed; and five charged cases were still pending. . . there have been no convictions.

Other MAGA metaphysical certainties are that every person Trump fires or is forced to resign is always replaced with someone worse, and his response to every loss in court is to do something worse than the behavior just prohibited by the court.

What Gives Me Hope Read more here.

Hope is not a promise. It is not a guarantee of success. It is the courage to act in the face of uncertainty. And right now, in this fragile moment for our democracy, it is the most important responsibility we share. www.democracydocket.com/opinion/what...

I called Bitcoin “a fake internet nerd currency preferred by pedophiles, drug dealers, and money launderers” after Chris Pan gave his little commencement speech.

Bitcoin’s price has imploded over revelations that Jeffrey Epstein was a key architect.

The fact that the entire US government is now running by which billionaire gets a private meeting with the President (and which companies cut the President into part of the profits from a deal) is itself the scandal. Consolidating all decisions on one person's hands is a recipe for corruption.

Twin meetings with Trump
Amid Paramount CEO David Ellison's ongoing hostile takeover bid for CNN and the rest of Warner Bros. Discovery, Ellison returned to the White House last week to meet privately with President Trump.

Ellison and Trump had two wide-ranging conversations, according to sources with knowledge of the meetings.

The timing of the meetings — early last week — is intriguing because Trump was asked by NBC's Tom Llamas on Wednesday about Paramount and Netflix's battle, and he said, "I haven't been involved."

Trump seemed to marvel at the attention he's been getting from both Ellison and Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos, who has also met with Trump in recent months: "I must say, I guess I'm considered to be a very strong president," he told Llamas. "I've been called by both sides. It's the two sides, but I've decided I shouldn't be involved. The Justice Department will handle it."

That was a major shift for Trump, who had previously said he would be involved and signaled his preference for Paramount.

CBS producer blasts 'new vision'
"CBS Evening News" producer Alicia Hastey left the network yesterday, but she didn't do so quietly, as the NYT's Ben Mullin reported on X.

In a farewell note, Hastey slammed the news division's new boss, Bari Weiss, though not by name. Hastey criticized the "sweeping new vision" and said stories may be evaluated "not just on their journalistic merit but on whether they conform to a shifting set of ideological expectations — a dynamic that pressures producers and reporters to self-censor or avoid challenging narratives that might trigger backlash or unfavorable headlines."

 >> Alexandra Steigrad reports that roughly 1/4th of eligible "Evening News" staffers, or 11 employees, have accepted buyout offers.

Death Row Prisoners Granted Clemency by Biden Brace for “Living Hell” Under Trump Trump officials are retaliating by imposing the harshest conditions in the entire federal prison system, including near total isolation.

Bolts reported on the men facing transfer last year.

“My connection to the outside world is my lifeline. To sever my lifeline is to undermine my sanity, my stability, my sense of security,” said one of the men whose transfer was just blocked.

A federal judge has blocked the Trump administration’s efforts to transfer 20 former death row prisoners to a supermax known for harsh conditions.

Lawyers for the men say Trump officials were retaliating for Joe Biden commuting their sentences in 2024.

Wonder what/who pressured them to declare an “unlawful assembly”.

But more importantly, unmasked identifiable cops led arrestees off in handcuffs. They didn’t throw them on the ground, pistol-whip them, spray them with chemical weapons, and drag their wounded bodies into unmarked SUVs.

Local LEO need a 180 degree turn in approach: not “get the bad guy”… protect the good guy. That still results in the bad guy getting arrested. But it keeps cops from seeing everyone as the bad guy. Brings to mind the old adage that the guy whose only tool is a hammer sees every problem as a nail.
