Heart - The Cincinnati Review Managing Editor Lisa Ampleman: In "Heart," David James Poissant shows how information can be revealed slowly and deliberately in a piece of flash fiction.

Thrilled have a 500-word story up today at The Cincinnati Review @cincinnatireview.bsky.social . This story started as an idea for an ending that I texted myself and carried around on a phone for years. Finishing was just a matter of finding a beginning:

β€œBut we all know what Alice means when Alice switches words and Alice meant Monster.”

Wonderfully creative story by @pintsncupcakes.bsky.social in Ghost Parachute that teeters on the edge of surreal, but possibly not.

Every writer who generates a slop image for their work is a class traitor.

"I can't afford a visual artist"

So your solution is stabbing artists in the back? Stealing from them?

Furthermore, slop-generated imagery suggests slop-generated writing. That's how you're presenting yourself.

We put a photo of Bula on her cat tree so that people who knew her from the sidewalk would know she's gone. But now the picture frame has become the thing that most frequently catches the corner of my vision when I'm unprepared and briefly makes me think she's there, kicking off realization again.
