Oh wow, Detlef Schönberner has passed away. His paper, "Asymptotic giant branch evolution with steady mass loss" and his series on the late stages of stellar evolution were staples of my PhD reading. www.aip.de/en/news/obit...

Your post prompted me to try to find the astronomy that Science has been publishing recently, but there doesn't seem to be an easy way to filter the astronomy & planetary science out from the rest. Am I missing something?
Hello old friend.

I have seen a couple of the #RubinFirstLook images and they are AH-MAZE-ING! Tune in.
Well worth a read...

A network of red and yellow filaments, representing the cosmic web, stretches across a dark blue background on the cover of the April issue of Nature Astronomy. The coverline reads: "Universal connections".
Our April issue is now available to read! The cover image shows the (simulated) filaments of the cosmic web, and comes courtesy of the Tornotti et al. paper within the issue: nature.com/natastron/vo... #AstroSci
If planet 9 exists, is it more likely to be a close binary system than an isolated object? And if it is a binary, would it not therefore be a planet?
Black cosmic-ray streamlines are overlayed with yellow patches where micromirror scattering occurs.
Our March issue is here to read: https://bit.ly/4il4GfW The dynamic-looking cover image represents cosmic rays in galaxy clusters, and is linked to the Reichherzer et al. paper within the issue.
State-of-the-art computer simulations show that the first water in the Universe formed in primordial supernova remnants 100 Myr after the Big Bang, enriching future sites of planet formation to levels almost those in the Solar System today. Whalen et al.: www.nature.com/articles/s41... #Astronomy
I am a former astronomy researcher/astrochemical modeller (now recovering), currently editor at a major international astronomy journal. Thanks!
