One of my favorite things about him is that he emerges from the water as a giant blob of darkness, clearly inspired by one of my favorite yokai, Umi Bozu! I had fun emulating that energy.

This gigantic overgrown Akira-esque abomination of a plant with Little Shop of Horror vibes that has a glowing abdomen and spits poisonous bile through rows and rows of teeth was tricky to depict but a lot of fun!

Today's the prerelease for Godzilla: Reign of the Kaiju at @universusccg.bsky.social World Championship event in Dallas! People are already starting to pull my cards! I had fun doing the Japanese style cloud patterning and lightning effects in this one.

🌌 Space Godzilla

I wanted to depict him during the final battle at the end of Godzilla vs. Space Godzilla, but I had to balance various elements - it was the vibrant color in the background that really brought this all together in the end.

It was really fun to have another go at painting Mothra - this time I depicted using her last resort technique of releasing "scales", a poisonous gold powder, from her wings - a technique she only uses if she knows she's going to die.

Here is Anguirus, Godzilla's first cinematic nemesis. I decided to depict him by Osaka Castle as seen in Godzilla Raids Again. I was actually able to use my own photo reference of the castle from my 2019 trip to Japan!

A little interview I had about the creation of the UVS Godzilla alt cards last year if anyone's curious about the creative process!

Artwork depicts a masked fox woman sitting on a thick Japanese maple tree branch with her staff lantern attracting white moths. Three flames of foxfire hover around the figure. Inspired by the kitsune from Japanese folklore. Created on tea stained illustration board with acrylic, color pencil, and ink.
