IMO there's less opposition because the US government is actively suppressing how bad things are going, while the totalitarian Gulf States are starting to arrest people just for filming Iranian drones.

i did do a coen's rewatch/clear up some misses on that series which was great, but it involved me up watching movies until midnight too often to be a long term plan.

One thing I'd encourage is to think less about crude and more about products. The loss of product supply is greater than the loss of crude supply (because crude makes products and the Gulf also exports products). And demand *for crude* can drop as availability does.

Everything is bad, but at least I can focus on my dissertation chapter about how the British in 1915 didn’t have the navy to force a strait when it needed to because it spent the previous decades funding their army’s misadventures in unimportant areas that turned into expensive quagmires.
On some level, I think it is the same reason Wall Street gives Trump so much rope: emotionally, they have to believe it.
The alternative is that they voted an insane fool into office who intends to ruin them, which would make them both fools and Bad People.
