Big news today: the Free Press media literacy and learning project has been selected as finalist for an International News Media Association Global Media Award in the Best Public Service Project category. The awards will be handed out in May in Berlin. This is...uh...bananas. And awesome.
Maybe this will (or at least could) steer us away from rote learning and standardized assessment and more toward authentic inquiry and student-driven project learning?

Jon Hamm was driving the car behind me as I was trapped in traffic all the way down Notre Dame tonight. I stared in my rearview mirror so long trying to convince myself that it wasn't him that he eventually put the sun shade down.
