oh, yay! been binging the better offline podcast and was just thinking i need something else for a little bit, so now i'm switching from one guy being righteously angry with lots of facts to back it up to *two* guys being righteously angry with lots of facts to back it up. X'D
his name is Jay
and wen its nite
or wen the moon
is shiyning brite
and all rich assholes
flee from shoot -
he stay up late
he lik the foot.
...he lik the foot?
the sternum is a bone -- you're not gonna get that needle through. also, the heart is not behind the sternum.
my guess is that it's just a case of "more dramatic visuals make for more dramatic visuals" plus it's used as a visual shorthand bc enough people know it from pulp fiction.
tyk, my first thought was indeed that i'd rather read it than watch. still opened the video in a muted tab though, because she deserves a play for the work ^^
i love your reviews, just thought it might be easier for you to share this way instead of screenshots
didn't mean to come across as patronising, i just wanted to say that the *book's page* is not locked the same way the link for the *single review* is.
you can test this -- www.goodreads.com/book/show/24...
had a look at storygraph, found it a bit useless in that it focuses so much on stats, more like a fitbit for books than a place for readers to connect. no way to find your other reviews.
if you link to the book page on gr, ppl can just scroll to read your review, you wouldn't need to screenshot)
i'd recommend just listening to the episode of the if books could kill podcast. (i'm sure they're on the usual podcast apps, i just use podbean bc i can download episodes properly).

(adding "the chef's mere essence" to my lexicon of euphemisms, thank you! =D)

i mean, why would anyone invent the can opener before there are cans? XD
omg maybe we can get the racists to vaccinate their kids if we tell them they'll have more white blood cells.
also, he only had *white* blood cells. which is weird, considering he's against vaccinations.
people who want it read by an artificial voice can use a free screenreader. i agree with everyone who said that ai for audiobook narration is unethical.
also disagree that you can't just read it yourself. i understand your reasoning but i always see audiobooks more like someone reading me a story.
i need a photo of that guy in front of the mornington crescent underground sign
the god of centrism has been defenestrated though, right out through the overton window
no, i'd say it's more a mascaralike
Gignorance
don't need it myself but very much appreciate you having a full-text transcript right at the episode link!
the brain goes to another school.
tbf every possible angle anyone could conceive of is underutilized by dems
oh i was not expecting to find brennan lee mulligan quoted on a james o'brien post. <3
they'll teargas the referees for blowing whistles
nah, that's the standard closing icon, like a + turned by 1/4. "x"-logo is uppercase with one bar thicker than the other. also, there's always the @username visible & it doesn't have the globe icon. sorry for overexplaining, i just think it's useful to recognise whether a screenshot is from there.
what makes you think that? i can't say for sure which site it is but it looks nothing like twitter.
is that link working for anyone? haven't been able to load archive.is or any of the mirrors in weeks.
had look at the other archive, this should be the article: web.archive.org/web/20260000...
not holding my breath but it would be nice if there was at least a larger-scale discussion about it.
btw i clicked through to the article and was *not* prepared for that name. "gΓΆttlich" means divine so the guy is literally called oke divine. might steal that for the next rpg session.
not sure that farage's condemnation is missing, i thought you condemned him loud and clear
