it can be true that YA deserves better work, esp in the romantasy category, and also true that lots of adults read this genre and then get mad over something designed for actual teenagers

From my glimpse before the paywall hit, two of the series mentioned are ACOTAR (New Adult) and Powerless (YA), so yeah. I think the truth is that people are reading in genres not designed to appeal to them

that doesn't mean 1st person is a 'bad' PoV choice. it means YA (and NA, its cousin with more sex) currently suffers from a glut of low effort books pushed out quickly and with inadequate editing

that being said, much of the YA genre is written in 1st person and i believe this is a deliberate choice bc younger readers - to whom YA is actually marketed and intended for - find it easier to access a narrative that way. much of the YA genre is also not very good.

couldn't read more than a few lines of this piece bc i ain't paying but perspective discourse is baffling to me. i try to write from a variety of PoVs (tho i do often prefer 3rd) and when reading i have no real preference. if a book is poorly written then it's poorly written regardless of PoV choice

I will be selling a new zine that is a preview of my next comic after NDE (thanks to all who are patiently waiting for the finish!!)! BLOOMKIN is a surreal queer dystopian horror about a disgraced cartographer forced to go on a dangerous expedition with a bitter ex.

shdg well to be fair i only write in the D&D journal DURING D&D (it's for IC/OOC notes); the reading journal only for recording book reviews/thoughts, and the weeks is usually just one quick line a day ...

im sad all the time mostly but especially so in march bc it is the month my dad died. he passed away on march 15th so i have to say that just, personally, for me, i don't love ides of march jokes either (not to proscribe them in any way; it's just not smth i do for this reason)

Four sketches of Wrathion from World of Warcraft, wow!!! Wrathion says, "I keep no secrets. You are welcome to accompany us, Anduin Wrynn." He examines his nails. "If your injury permits." There's a sketch beside that of Wrathion looking pouty while crossing his arms, and another below, where he looks affronted. "That's ridiculous. Why would you even play!?" he says.

I put two little blue and pink hearts beside the dialogue to indicate how trans coded this line is... The sketch below that is of him grinning, saying, "You aren't harbouring any bad thoughts, are you?" The last two sketches are of Wrathion as a dragon, and Wrathion wearing a binder, without his turban on, showing that he is a trans man. All the lines here are from the game!! I wanted to draw how I imagined him emoting during each of them.
