Congrats to David and Patrick. Very well earned. Giants in the field whose work sets the tone for others to follow.
Excited to share our latest work in @nature.com showing shared neural substrates for parenting and prosocial helping behavior. Full text available here: rdcu.be/e6PnY
New paper from the lab led by @ericmulhall.bsky.social addresses how PIEZO1 and PIEZO2 are tuned to different types mechanical forces. From nanometer-scale super-resolution microscopy to in vivo experiments, links single-molecule observations to physiological function.

Wow recruiting up to 16 people! Take a look if you're on the job market. I was here last fall and was really impressed by the people and environment, and all the new buildings.
idk that seems to be the understatement of the week. this is actually happening, postdocs and RAs are being let go, and projects falter. 'could face funding gaps'? this is actually happening at a large scale. 'Worry' doesnt reflect the existential crisis that many of my colleagues are in.
Awesome my friend! I also grew my early love for biology watching nature documentaries. I still watch them. Looking forward to seeing yours!

Wow, impressive. I can sit with grants for 3+ months pouring my heart and soul into the writing - editing, re-writing, soliciting feedback, deleting, etc.
Honored to receive the Lenfest Distinguished Faculty Award here at Columbia. This is a testament to the wonderful people Iβve been able to work with and mentor.

very cool work, congrats!!
Very important article for all of us in neuroscience. Thanks @suthanalab.bsky.social. It takes people like yourself who are comfortable breaking down these cross-species barriers to make real progress. I hope people follow you. You have improved my thinking.
We deleted a rhomboid protease⦠and regeneration went into overdrive.

Congrats @xintoii.bsky.social! Very well deserved!
Assoc. Prof. @xinjin.bsky.social has been named a 2026 Sloan Research Fellow by the @sloanfoundation.bsky.social, recognized for pioneering in vivo Perturb-seqβa gene-editing approach combining CRISPR technology and single-cell RNA analysis to uncover how genetic variation shapes brain development.
can't wait!
Excited to co-host this conference with @marissascavuzzo.bsky.social and Steve Liberles focused on the peripheral nervous system -- No Brainer! Check out the amazing list of speakers and apply for one of the spots for this small, interactive meeting on the beautiful Janelia Campus at HHMI.
Great point @tedpricethepainguy.bsky.social! So many classic papers I teach my undergrads in neuroscience before the 1970s and 1980s have no p-values or stats, and yet those findings have stood the test of time.
lets go, no brainer!! congrats
this is incredible π
In this monthβs βLiftoff,β @shawnrhoadsphd.com talks about how heβll implement hackathons to foster community in his lab, and @zurisullivan.bsky.social shares how weekly discussions about unfamiliar topics can encourage curiosity in a lab. bit.ly/3ZkMQl8

I enjoyed reading these 20 reviews in this special edition on interoception. This exciting field of brain-body signaling has many open questions β indicated by most articles written by PIs of labs opened within the past few years. Nice job authors and editors.

very cool work @sethblackshaw.bsky.social and team!
Congratulations @flybottleescape.bsky.social and team on this impressive study. Greg, I still remember your job talk and you dreaming of doing things like this. You've made it happen!
Congratulations @zurisullivan.bsky.social!! I'm so proud of you and MIT and Whitehead are so fortunate to have landed you. Looking forward to seeing some amazing science come from your lab.
happy new year and wishing you a wonderful 2026
