Contrary to what the facial expressions might suggest, this has actually been a very enjoyable and interesting event. Thanks to everyone who was part of the Author-Meets-Critics event in my SSMR book

My book is precisely about this questions. Summarizing it in one toot is challenging โฆ:-)
I warmly invite everyone in our community to reach out, share your ideas, and join me in shaping CEUโs future together.
As I take on this responsibility, I am reflecting on the privilege of working alongside colleagues, students, and @alumni who are deeply committed to our shared mission. I look forward to listening, learning, and helping CEU continue to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
CEU has been part of my life for over 20 years. It is more than an academic home; it is a community that has shaped my thinking, my values, and my sense of purpose. It is a place where conversations spark change and research meets real-world challenges.
Today, I begin my journey as Interim President and Rector of @Central European University, a role that inspires both gratitude and responsibility.
As we said in 2017: if academic freedom is under attack in Hungary and we donโt fight back, it will be under attack sooner than later in other countries, too. #CEU #Harvard

Some (not only) personal news
Quite amazing for the American VP to be giving lessons on liberty to Europeans while his boss bans the Associated Press from news briefings because it calls the Gulf of Mexico by its actual name.
Chinese translations of two more recent books of mines, all with @cambridgeup.bsky.social, are under way: โQualitative Comparative Analysis using Rโ, with Nena Oana @nenaoana.bsky.social and Eva Thomann @evathomann.bsky.social and โSet-Theoretic Multi-Method Researchโ. I hold my breath. ๆๅฑไฝๅผๅธ #QCA

ๆๅพ้ซๅ ดๅฐๅฎฃๅธ๏ผMy book, co-authored with Claudius Wagemann, โSet-Theoretic Methods for the Social Sciencesโ (2012) is now available in Chinese. I learn that the middle initial Q. translates as Q. in Chinese.
Iโd be pleased to be added, too
Special thanks to @ingorohlfing.bsky.social, with whom I kicked off the SMMR project; and @nenaoana.bsky.social, who crucially helped with refining the conceptual ideas and with implementing them into the smmr() function in R.

Are you interested in enhancing your descriptive and causal inference by combining QCA with case studies? Happy to see my book out now.
Descriptive and causal inference is enhanced by returning to cases after QCA. SMMR spells out the principles and practices of selecting the best cases in the data.
