my first and most immediate recommendation will always be piranesi as a one-shot, and then assassin's apprentice for a longstanding series. i will also say i did just finish reading howls moving castle recently for the first time and i am 99% sure youve read it but if you havent.. wow it was so good

went to the kitschy romance bookstore today with a friend and they had a mafia dubcon book where the main character was a modern take on historical figure and known tyrannical emperor nero
