All the Azzy stuff I was writing as I was going through DT, so when the Meso Terminal happened it lined up perfectly - plus they fit the description of an Endless very well.

He is still in Living Memory now, the good Sphene giving them a chance at rehabilitation.

That proved time enough for his friends to discover the switch, lure Azzy back to the Terminal and switch Q’linn’s mind back in place while dispelling the phantom.

While he’s hale and healthy now, that short window he created was used by Calyx to escape deletion too, along with all that followed.

Adrift in a dark and dying void, Q’linn’s memories - made of aether and aspected to Lightning, with the help of a dynamis spark - leveraged his knowledge to make emergency power for a small partition of the Terminal. *Just* enough to sustain himself for a few days.

The time Q’linn got closest: after defeating Sphene, Azzy - a phantom copy of Azem - seized the chance to replace Q’linn’s memories with his own. He walked out of Living Memory with his body and soul, while Q’linn’s mind was abandoned in the Meso Terminal as it shut down. (cont)

Exactly what I was thinking - plus it means we have a second Scion beside G’raha who can flex into any role for Duty Support.

Also it always makes me chuckle that barrier effect is an AST move but it’s never Uriangier who uses it.

Our “Scion switching to one of the expansion’s new jobs” would be Y’shtola, turning her into a full role all-rounder like G’raha.

My idea is a “caster tank,” whose mitigations and abilities focus on barriers and are flavoured as seeing the future to warn of attacks before they hit. Basically weaponising the Echo as a job’s main feature.

One solid prediction I’m making is for the Tank job to be some variant on Psychic from FFX-2.

They’ve said before about struggling to come up with new jobs; I think the job/glamour uncoupling opens the perfect chance to branch out aesthetics, so why not start with a robe-wearing tank?

Q’linn is naturally aspected towards it from overusing his MCH aetherotransformer, and actually used the blast to charge a chunk of electrope he was carrying around for a project. Saved him the trouble of walking outside and waiting to be struck by lightning.

Q'linn, wrapped in a thick winter sweater, sits in the glow of a roaring fireplace as he reads from a tome, a soft smile on his lips. Perched on the mantlepiece are four replica soul crystals representing the trades of his fellow Warriors of Light, with whom he shares the estate: Darling the Dark Knight, Josie the Reaper, his own Machinist crystal, and Samson the Scholar.

In a dream of Amaurot, Q'linn collapses to his knees as he looks up at a giant idol bathed in golden light: Pytheas, the last of the Seat of Azem. The Ancient looks over their shoulder and down at Q'linn, ominous and dismissive. To their sides, Azem's other shards walk away from the glow. Ardbert of the First exits to the left, his spirit rejoined with Q'linn and his form fading and nearly invisible. Germain of the Thirteenth and Lapis of the Ninth depart to the right, both opaque as they live on in independence.
