Ah so now UK's immigration policy is being run by a nightclub bouncer with a god complex. You're not on the list, you're not coming in? This is no way to treat people seeking sanctuary in the UK and what's more - it will not work.

Minister defends plan to broadcast footage of deportation of illegal workers – UK politics live Angela Eagle defends government plan to broadcast deportations as Home Office launches new immigration raids

The Government’s plan to broadcast videos of immigration raids and deportations is cruel and plays right into the hands of reform. This is what Trump did in his first week, are we really using the same scaremongering tactics as that guy?!

Thousands of Syrians in limbo as UK Home Office freezes asylum claims Two months after the fall of Assad’s regime, Whitehall’s decision to pause asylum applications from Syrians has left more than 6,600 cases stuck on hold in the UK

Important coverage of the ongoing pause in the processing of Syrian asylum claims, as well as settlement applications, by @lizziedearden.bsky.social. People shouldn’t just be left in limbo because of an indefinite pause www.theguardian.com/world/2025/f...

Meloni’s Albanian migrant detention centers are now ghost towns The much-touted solution to Europe’s migration crisis houses only Italian police β€”Β who have taken to adopting stray dogs and sunbathing.

These β€œoffshoring” #asylum schemes have never and will never work. Italy’s failed Albanian scheme is proof of that www.politico.eu/article/gior...

Syria liberation: What comes next, and can Hayat Tahrir al-Sham rule? The scenes from Syria are ones of jubilation as people celebrate the downfall of Bashar al-Assad, but what comes next for the country?

"Jubilation and euphoria now. but what next? What about the hard yards of actually governing this country?"

Despite the liberation of Syria from the brutal Assad regime, its future remains uncertain

Asylum legal aid rates set to increase for first time in almost 30 years Legal aid rates, which fund solicitors to help asylum seekers through their cases, have not increased since 1996, a real-terms cut of 48%.

GOOD NEWS: For the first time in nearly 30 years, legal aid rates are set to increase.

With over 50% of people seeking asylum unable to get access to legal support, this investment is a desperately needed win.

I found the most unhelpful comments by MPs the ones equating young people wanting to commit suicide with terminally ill people needing access to assisted dying. They’re not the same thing and shouldn’t be conflated.
