Asylum legal aid rates set to increase for first time in almost 30 years Legal aid rates, which fund solicitors to help asylum seekers through their cases, have not increased since 1996, a real-terms cut of 48%.

GOOD NEWS: For the first time in nearly 30 years, legal aid rates are set to increase.

With over 50% of people seeking asylum unable to get access to legal support, this investment is a desperately needed win.

The assisted dying bill has gone through.

I found the most unhelpful comments by MPs the ones equating young people wanting to commit suicide with terminally ill people needing access to assisted dying. They’re not the same thing and shouldn’t be conflated.

I also found it the most powerful and moving contribution so far

Following the #AssistedDyingBill debate, and hearing all the stories of terminally ill people who had to die in agony is really shocking and incredibly sad
