Been through something like this. Trying to pick him up may be more traumatic for him than trapping him. And there’s a risk you might get bitten or scratched and infected. If he hasnt had a rabies shot yet, and he bit you, he’s in quarantine for 10 days. This is too soon for many cats to be held.
