I’m excited to wrap up this research in the spring!
Until then, I’m on the job market— looking for academic jobs in public administration, policy, and housing!

I’m learning so much about the various housing voucher programs, which seem to work better than others, and why. It turns out, having someone help you through the process is critical in navigating the system and reducing administrative burdens.
I feel super lucky to be named a Clifford Robert’s Fellow through the Eisenhower Institute! This funding is supporting my dissertation research on the experiences of Housing Voucher holders.
I’ve done 1/3 things on this list! That 1 thing is really exciting though! 😁
One of my favorite parts of being an academic is getting to teach undergrads. I love simplifying statistics for math-averse students and cultivating critical thinking in an environment designed for them to take risks. I’m honored that this love is recognized through SPAA’s Grad Teaching Award! 💡
I am so proud to announce that I have officially reached candidacy! 🎉
Yesterday, I defended my dissertation prospectus, "Housing and Neighborhoods Under New Public Management"
I have the best committee that is kind, yet critical (including @meganehatch.bsky.social 🙂). Here's to dissertating!!!
I've never felt so inspired by students who reflected on their desire to shift structures and pursue non-reformist reforms (even if they still want to be lawyers 😜).
Just a bit of hope in a world that feels so heavy right now. (4/4)
After a semester of reading and understanding how the legal system as it is can erode democracy and create injustice, it was refreshing for students to gain a tangible idea of how to shift change under a framework that doesn't prioritize liberalism. (3/4)
We were also lucky to have Grace White from the Tenant Union Federation join us to share insights into the rent strikes happening in Kansas City with KC Tenants.
For a bit of that inspiration, check out the TIMES documentary on KC Tenants. (2/4)
This semester, I'm teaching Intro to Law and Society. Tonight, we talked about Emancipatory Horizons and Non-Reformist Reforms, using @amnaakbar.bsky.social's article to frame our discussion. (1/4)
*although my soul feels like a fifth-year, I am actually wrapping up my fourth year 😅
Come see me next Friday at UAA! I'm presenting a piece of my dissertation prospectus so I'd love to hear any and all feedback before I dive into the dissertation phase!
Chart: "2017 Tax Law Did Not Create Growth in Nation's Economy as Promised"
The 2017 tax law didn’t deliver the promised economic boost — no meaningful gains in growth, investment, or wages. Now, plans to extend it, alongside cuts to #Medicaid & #SNAP and new tariffs, would raise costs for families while giving more to the top 1%. www.cbpp.org/blog/the-201...
The legally required inspections frequently uncover painted-over ceiling sprinklers, defective gas ranges, and any number of home-related liabilities that can pose a danger to occupants.
