Best Final Fantasy.
A low-key ad in comparison to some Final Fantasy commercials, but one that gives us a wonderful glimpse of the game in development, Square's dev offices, and the computers they used to make Final Fantasy II for Famicom.

Shout out to @hg101.bsky.social for committing to the bit and having a panelist do the whole Darkwing review in Megavolt voice. Right on the heels of the panel doing Jak and Daxter in awful (paired with an authentic) Australian accents.
They've currently ranked 1561 out of 47,858 promised games!
And @frdougal9000.bsky.social is on the Darkwing Duck episode!

It was also one of the few Infocom games that got a novelization. As did the sequel.

The manual gave you maybe a few clues. Most games didn't come with a full guide; that was a bit more common for RPGs.
"Incredible" if you have never played an adventure game from that time period. Also, these are only three-hour games if you solve all the puzzles immediately. People needed weeks and weeks to beat these without a guide.
I love how menacing this is.

A cropped screenshot from Madou Monogatari 2 (PC-98), showing the heroine Arle and her yellow rabbit-ish friend Carbuncle expressing shock. Carbuncle has a sort of Muppet-like look on their face, cartoon mouth open in a comical way.
Best.
Carbuncle.
EVER.
Sigma's face from Mega Man X added onto an enemy from the same game. A green and yellow robot is jumping while holding a green and yellow shield in one hand and has a large spiked ball in the other. Unofficially, this is my favorite regular enemy from MMX1. Not to fight, they are awful, but I think they are the coolest. As a kid they were like the equivalent of Sniper Joe in my mind.
