Here's a clip of Edgar reading the BBC Radio 4 News in 1982. This is the first report of Argentinians landing on the Falklands.
Edgar spent most of his career at BBC Northern Ireland, but was also a newsreader at Radio 4 in the early 1980s and also had a stint with the BBC World Service at the transmitting station on Ascension Island.
I was very sorry to learn today of the passing of our former BBC NI TV Presentation colleague Edgar Martin.
This clip is from 1974 with Edgar at the controls in TV Continuity, preparing to put Scene Around Six on air.
Our thoughts are with Edgar's family.
This is genuinely insane, I clicked to see the years expecting the low part to be 70s or maybe 90s but its 2015!!!!! The entire anti trans panic is a decade old
BT headline offer: Β£37.99 a month for 24 months. Except it is only actually Β£37.99 for one month, then Β£41.99 from the end of March and Β£45.99 from the end of next March.
People talk about this stuff in terms of how much it'll suck for gaming and I hate to inform you how many MRI machines, X-Rays, all sorts of other vital machinery are just a Windows IoT Edition PC in a beige plastic box with a big magnet/accelerator/whatever attached.
Stephen Colbert taped a βLate Showβ interview with James Talarico, a candidate in the Democratic Senate primary in Texas. But CBS lawyers intervened before the interview could air on TV. https://cnn.it/40cMltV
How is it possible that Kristi Noem still has this job. Imagine if youβre a family member or a shipmate of this guardsman.

Northern Ireland remains the only part of the UK where wildlife can still be chased & killed by dogs. This cruel, outdated practice has no place in a modern, compassionate society.

(Also cool that he dressed as a young Columbo.)
I've got to put this combination of timing and camerawork up there with James Burke's rocket take-off piece-to-camera.

They don't make television programmes like they used to.
And we can all be thankful for that. (This is just the first episode of *ten* on stamp collecting.)

Those elections are in May *2027*.

Northern Ireland goes into colour
This is absolutely insane. The sort of Kafka-esque nightmare you would find in a Philip K Dick book set far in the dystopian future. A window on America tumbling into autocracy.

Blue Peter star's tragic death after show sacking as tribute paid
Pushed by Reach newspapers on social media feeds: the death of Michael Sundin. Which happened in 1989. As if itβs a news story. So that you click.
Did you notice who did the programme design?
Smiling young man with short dark hair, wearing a green sweater and plaid shirt, standing in front of a stone wall.
On this day in 1987, Mark Ashton, co-founder of Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners, was diagnosed with HIV.
His friend Chris wrote a beautiful tribute to Mark, which he shared in 2014, and has now been republished on our website.
Read it now.

A bird's-eye view of a former Auschwitz II-Birkenau camp showing a wide dirt pathway flanked by parallel rows of barbed-wire fences. Groups of visitors walk along the path, surrounded by the remnants of brick structures and barracks, now reduced to foundations. Green grass contrasts with the somber history of the site, as the path leads toward a guard tower in the distance.
Auschwitz was at the end of a process. We must remember that it did not start from gas chambers.
This hatred gradually developed: from ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.
Auschwitz took time.
