Ik denk ook dat status er weinig mee te maken heeft. Als je een erg druk fijn sociaal leven hebt schiet er mss gewoon weinig tijd over om aan kinderen 'te beginnen'. In onze vriendenkring toch al enkele keren iets gehoord in de aard van 'we kwamen er niet aan toe' (late veertigers).

Getting planning permission used to be a lot easier in NI, not anymore (...well... except for farmers 😬)
But housing standards (=price) should be in line with what people can afford, not the other way around. Maybe those new builds wont be perfect, but the will be a big improvement on present stock.
If enough houses are build, prices (also rental) will decrease. House prices only increase if there's a shortage.
Cause that's what 'high standards' are (mis)used for. Making sure only a certain type of house can be build...for the right people

Building new houses is a good thing. People complaining that builders earn a living clearly have no idea how difficult the rental market is (both UK and ROI). People complaining new builds might "harm the countryside" (friend of the earth)...no respect

Ieper-Leuven in de werkweek is waanzin...en niet tgv 'range'. Gewoon pokkedruk traject, hoe je dat stressvrij zou kunnen doen met een ice weet ik niet.
Ik heb 2 collega's die meerdere keren per week uit WV naar BXL komen. Range is nooit een onderwerp. File op de E40 wel...en als ze eenmalig naar Leuven moeten komen...de ring van BXL 's morgens.
