For the last 2 months, we've had an incredible bachelors student in the lab ๐Ÿคฉ

Last week, Victoria presented research on growth and germination rates in entomopathogenic fungi grown in different media types๐Ÿ„๐Ÿฆ—

So proud of her and everything she achieved ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ”ฌ #AcademicSky #MycoSky

Precious cargo: I carried a three-million-year-old tooth in my hand luggage As we mark 100 years since Australopithecus africanus was first described, molecular scientist Palesa Madupe explains how palaeoproteomics cast light on the biology of South African hominins.

Wonderful piece, @palaeoprotpalesa.bsky.social! Keep flying that flag! ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

So happy to see this perspective out initiated and expertly led by @michaelhabig.bsky.social on the possible regulation of horizontal transfer of accessory chromosomes in fungi

This is a great study! I enjoy the ingenoius and simplicity of the approach showing how mutations in a genotype space navigate a fitness landscape with many peaks. Wonder whether the same patterns applies to traits with less hard selection...https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.adh3860

This image is a perfect representation of why I've lost interest in academia. Everyone is expected to do three different jobs simultaneously, and I have no desire to do that to myself.

I don't disagree that most of these things are very important for *someone* to do, but it's too much for one.
