I seem to remember that people were better off (except for those who starved to death) during the Great Depression as to now.

This is how I access Bluesky
Not if it's all operated by computers and he's not there *shrugs*
Especially impressive, since some of them are dead.
Meanwhile Nancy moved on to her planned activity for the evening - winning back Sluggo from that new girl with the ringlets either side of her head. Cornering him in the alleyway in which he was hunting for discarded recyclable bottles, she approached and whispered into his ear: "Woims".
Luckily, it was 1927, so the tobacconist would sell. A handwritten note in shaky handwriting: "Sell this kid 20 Pall mall. They're for me." Eddie would be nervously watching the clock mentally sobbingly adding one to the tally of blows his father would inflict for every five minutes lateness...
I'm imagining Eddie's dad at home, jonesing like a character in a Burroughs novel, gripping the belt in his hands counting off the number of shakes per minute while waiting for Eddie to get back.
Girl in Nordstrom's, all of about 18-19. Wife and I pass by her on way to escalator. She's wearing a shirt saying "That's so Fetch."
I said to her in passing, "stop trying to make fetch happen". She looked at me with a massively confused look on her face.
I mean, come on?!
First thing to tackle is there being no healthcare system. Universal Healthcare, NOW.
"Record profits, but I just.... have.... to have more."
Does that include the do-nothing opposition that encouraged him to run and maintained a rotating cast of "villains" to rubber stamp each one of his decisions?
Now they're rationing diesel. Hope y'all have stocked up

"MUTILIZATION".
Good grief.
Yup. Back when we had hope there'd be change.
I cannot imagine what it is up in Canada. I remember it being 59c a liter and being surprised when I moved to the US the tank was full well before what I was used to paying.
Dear News People Types:
"Pain at the pump". Stop using that term. You've been using the same tired, hackneyed phrase for decades. Find a new expression.
*shrugs* All I know is we heard "we hear you, we see you" and promises for a public option and $20K student loan relief per borrower. As well as decriminalized cannabis.
I also remember a million jobs disappearing and them saying "what are you talking about! Jobs jobs jobs! oh wait..."
You've been interviewing for software engineering jobs?
Well that should make pirates' lives easier.
The biggest threat to this country isn't just Donald J Trump. It's the entire system that got so corrupt and jaded, over-extended and over-borrowed that politics is literally branding about hating another group of people. And then every four years it's "kum ba ya, support our guy."
truly, TRULY do not want a first world country that has healthcare, public transit, and a more equitable distribution of wealth than most grinding two jobs to try to stay alive without healthcare, and Musk as a trillionaire.
"We encouraged Trump to run because that made HER look better. Kept him out of prison because that would make HER look better. Lost both times, can't understand why."
This isn't a game. Look at what's going on in the world and how disgusted the rest of it is. All because they
their snouts in the lobbyist trough.
Now we're hearing CEOs saying "Sheesh, Bernie was right."
But can't mention his name, because in the minds of the Democrats, he was why people didn't just "do what they were told" and vote against their own interests because Trump was worse.
