300 people in five years is 60 a year and hundreds die every year. $25m?
also why do we have billionaires and millionaires?

Spoke w CBC alongside Isaac & Pastor Eddie abt the May closure of 5800 Yonge, a shelter for 200 ppl. Where is the housing/shelter spaces the City says they have? Combined w BLC respite & 545 Lakeshore closures, that's abt 500 people to be displaced.

Eglinton - 80 (adults)
Sheppard - 80 (women/kids)
Third St - 50 (seniors)
Wilson - 80 (adults)
That's 240 beds for adults, non seniors.
And won't even be open when they shutter the two shelters this spring.
he City is closing two shelters this spring, including 5800 Yonge: currently sheltering 410 people.
The City says they're prioritizing smaller shelters but there is NO NET GAIN OF BEDS:

this isn’t just abt one administration or entity. this is generations of policing that our Indigenous, Black, queer kin, have been screaming abt forever.
it’s not just abt abolish ICE (YES), but the entire system of policing that is disguised as “safety” & “protection”

i am grateful we humanize renee (mom!), alex (VA nurse!), liam (an innocent child!)
AND if they did not work, did not have kids, not documented, were homeless, were substance users, had mental health barriers, had a “criminal” record, we should still damn straight be outraged.
