my best effort at being charitable to OP is that these kinds of criticisms are reflections of an increasing frustration with the inaction of the privileged, with not seeing people taking to the streets, but going on with their lives despite awareness of the injustices and oppression.

Didn't help that by 14-15 I was chronically online during the height of the Youtube Atheist movement. Decades later I still don't believe in gods but am much more open to the idea of religious movements, and much more clear-eyed about how much of the skeptic movement is reactionary in its own way.

I was raised Catholic so had to go to "Sunday school". I was just as curious and annoyingly interrogative as I was in regular school, but gradually realized the teachers there didn't really have good answers nor liked inquisitiveness so I just sort of eventually concluded it was bs.
