I had to write similar conversation but from emotionally mature people on both side. It was rough. And then came out too idealized since it was outside my experience between parent and child. Hubs had to help make it sound more real.

Not yet. I'm going to give trad publishing a go, so I won't be hiring outside editors at the moment. I've worked with @cknightwrites.bsky.social in the past and they did amazing work. So, if I end up going indie I will definitely start with them.

You probably know this from your own conditions, but it is NOT a no pain no gain situation. Kid should not work through the pain. Yes there will be aches but pain is a bad sign that more support or exercise modification is needed.
I suspect I have heds but only a hypermobility diagnosis. But seeing as hypermobility runs in the family... The only diagnostic I know is the Beighton Score. But if kid can handle it my advice is exercise focused on not hyperextending. Because the mucles are needed to support the joints.
