I love both storytelling and magic, and one of my home traditions has a strong relationship with stories, but I know a lot of people who feel intimidated by the idea of even learning a tale so I wanted to show how easy it could be!

Rather than making one big resolution for a new year, I like to do a BINGO sheet with lots of different goals. Even if I fail at one resolution, there are so many other ways to score a win for myself. Here's a blank if you wanna try it out.
My post from Tumblr which reads: I genuinely wonder if people realize how many projects get abandoned because the readership "wasn't there", when in reality, the readership just stayed silent. It's a big thing in trad pub that book series get discontinued because readers pirate the books or wait until the series is finished to buy a copy, leading the publisher to think that nobody actually wants the book enough to continue the series, but it happens with indie creators too. I've discontinued a lot of free, online series because it's not worth putting 3-5 hours a week into posting a project for no readers. Sometimes I finish the series for me but just never post it again, other times I don't finish it at all because it feels more worthwhile to put my time into other things. Sometimes I hear from readers who are sad or upset that I didn't finish something they were liking, but the *reason* it never got finished is because I didn't know anyone liked it. If you like something, tell the creator, tell your friends, make some noise about it. If you would be sad if a story never finished, make that interest known because one of my biggest considerations before discontinuing a series is "will people miss this? Will I be letting people down" and 9/10 times, I come to the conclusion of "no, it doesn't even seem like anyone's reading this" only to learn after I've moved on that apparently someone was.

(which is to say, I think this is a wonderful idea and there might be a bigger market than you'd think, which would help support making it financially viable. I'd love to see more accessible options for more people!)
I've consider finding a set with braille as I am sighted but 1) I'd like to be able to share the cards with blind/visually impaired people if I ever do a reading/tarot class for them, & 2) I expect my sight to get worse as I age.
So there may be a couple of market options if they're visual too!
I use "faeosophy", in jest but also in seriousness, for when I'm exploring their place in our understanding of metaphysics/philosophy etc.
So I'm a fan of "faeology" as the study of beings & events which are "fae" - fated/magical/uncanny (as the term evolved) - because it's broad & clear. (3/3)
We use it for a huge number of beings & ideas... & it needs to be open to account for many regional/international differences (if we want to allow for potential study elsewhere).
It is a term for beings with family resemblance (like the term "fish"!) so specificity just can't be accurate. (2/3)

So, yes, and... Folklorist restricts the study to, well, folklore etc, & that's not the only place to find them, even if that's the common academic place & a good starting point.
They can be studied via literature, anthropology, phenomenology, modern encounters, sociology, history, magic, myth...

It's Mercury retrograde!
I was born under Mercury Retro & somehow do better when it comes around.
So, just saying: don't be worried.
Do tie up loose ends, research, reflect, revisit old interests...
And remember it's only 1 aspect of the sky weather. Look for where things are supportive for you.

Whichever way you go, be prepared to market your book (I find this so hard!)
This is one reason the process is slow, getting the word out takes time. Another is because humans are human... But they care & if you're paying for it, why not pay someone who has put in the work because they love it?!
If you just want your book out there quick then you can do that for free yourself, or you can pay for real, genuine, human services.
Don't feed the tech bro trolls. They're not doing anything new, they're just being predatory.
You, and your book, deserve better.
