What came to my mind with your fine post was that BL quotation in RTS that ANT is half Greimas half Garfinkel. How often materiality is connected to a reading of Greimas actant, and how a different account of materiality has developed after Garfinkel in a field like CSCW.
Could it be that Latour read Garfinkel as a movie critic but he did not become an etnomethodologist in the sense of inhabiting the specific rules that research program create for empirical research?
