The Minnesota Population Center at the University of Minnesota (@minnpop.bsky.social) is hiring a postdoc in Population Health. Happy to chat about the MPC, UMN, and the Twin Cities, which are all awesome in my humble opinion!

So we separated out tracts with increased in homeownership since the 1940s and found that tracts with increased homeownership had more greening.

i.e., greening gains are concentrated in gentrifying or otherwise advantaged neighborhoods & not the neighborhoods that may need the investment most 🧡4/5

BUT the majority of Chicago's census tracts were redlined, so this might be because only 7% of census tracts were graded A or B. Also, we know that not all of C and D graded tracts are in neighborhoods that continued to experience disinvestment. 🧡3/5

We look at Chicago from 2010-2020 (a time period that aligns with a city-level increase in green investment) and find that formerly redlined census tracts do green more than their non-redlined counterparts. 🧡2/5

Can't say my NY resolution is to spend more time on social media, but I did want to pop over and share my latest article!

We know that redlined communities are less green, but is it getting better or worse? 🧡1/5

Changing Labels in Esri Vector Basemaps Esri Vector Basemaps provide the flexibility to make custom changes to map labels on the map by quickly editing the JSON through our VTSE.

ESRI is updating their basemaps automatically to incorporate The Gulf of America starting tomorrow 2/20.
Unrelatedly, here's a workflow that you can use to manually edit your vector basemap labels: www.esri.com/arcgis-blog/...

Soaring wealth inequality has remade the map of American prosperity The wealthiest areas in the US are almost 7 times richer than the poorest regions, a disparity that has nearly doubled since 1960.

Wealth in the U.S. is increasing concentrated in the hands of the few. My work with @dyligent.bsky.social & @joelsuss.bsky.social shows *where* the wealth is, which cities are the most unequal and how trends have evolved. My new piece for @theconversation.com brings you up to speed. bit.ly/40gqvoZ
