Let’s start with guitars, hair, grooming and room. I’ll report back to y’all when I’ve dealt with these. Thanks for letting me shout into the void, #adhd blue sky!
Let’s start with guitars, hair, grooming and room. I’ll report back to y’all when I’ve dealt with these. Thanks for letting me shout into the void, #adhd blue sky!
- My plants are dying - need a day of post-winter plant cleanup and care
- the house in general needs a good declutter. I’m a minimalist living with four hoarders and I hate it 😂
- MY GUITARS ALL NEED REPAIR get this girl to a luthier
- I need a whole new wardrobe, thanks to Vyvanse my body had completely changed & I don’t want to participate in fast fashion so I need a day of shopping at consignment stores
- my kid keeps saying “mom, you’re always on your phone” time to activate more phone addiction protocols (also for sleep)
- my bedroom is a DISASTER and needs cleaning / reorganizing
- I stopped doing yoga (gotta start again)
- sleep has been horrendous so I’m recommitting to that
- haven’t read any of the books I got from the library (fun/joy)
I gotta remember not to neglect my own shit so here is a list of all the things I’ve been neglecting:
- starting my seeds and garden (fun/joy)
- getting a haircut
- getting my dog groomed
- missed a dentist appt (need to rebook)
- gotta finish my 2025 taxes and get them to the accountant
Self call out time:
I have been doing a LOT of caregiving, not just for the (now 4) kids in my house and my postpartum roommate, but also friends going through divorce, burnout and health issues as well as family members going through all of this.
Guys I think I have achieved black belt level #adhd management cuz I just sent a friend this text
oh gosh yes that is a great one!
#Autistic & #auDHD pals who are going thru / have gone thru burnout;
What do you wish your partners had understood or could do / have done to make you feel supported and cared for?
I have no energy now haha but I’m glad I’ll be able to rest later! Phew!!
If you read this far thanks for journeying through the night with me 😂 let me be your cautionary tale!
(I mean who doesn’t want to talk on a telephone receiver, major sensory good amirite? I love a good heavy phone receiver in my hand!)
Anyway, I’ll figure that out after I sleep and spend the next few weeks working on a luxurious bedtime wind down routine and cranking my sleep up!
So it may have to look like something really severe such as one of those cage doohickeys you put your phone in, or Cold Turkey Blocker + temporarily getting a landline or some shit
It doesn’t end here though; the Big Reset is always only the first step. Late night phone use is getting in my way so the next step after a Big Sleep is strategizing how to limit phone use in the evening and be more present with my kids and my body. I’m pretty impulse-driven in the evening
6:15 - lunches made, got the living room mostly tidied…. And tonight Dusty can relax in a 2/3rds clean house with a tidy digital life and focus on SLEEEEP
5:30 got distracted, adding another pegboard to my office, but then got back on track and cleaned the front hall 💪💪 up next; lunches for the kids
4:40 omg the office is done and it feels SO GOOD. Future Dusty will be so tired and also her capacity to actually rest is gonna be RAD. Gonna close some loops on digital tasks; tidying my desktop and putting files where I can actually find them while I watch a dumb show.
Luckily we have a great community including another adult who can drive the kids to school, so after my client check in this morning I can have a good long nap, do my work day, and then crash the heck out!
I’m going to bounce back and forth from low-level admin to deep cleaning, which I haven’t been able to get around to for months now. Trying to do anything that requires brain is a no no. Just getting loops closed is making me feel AMAZING and so relieved!
4:00 am: I’m going to skip taking my Vyvanse today that I can get sleepy extra early tomorrow night and get a big looooong sleep in my clean, organized and de-doom oiled house. Took another lil break to sit, read and do a low-level admin toleration. Back to the physical ones!
3:30 laundry room clean and reorganized
3:08 downstairs bathroom clean
2:30 I’m taking a short break to sit, read, have caffeine and put on some compression socks. Bout to get knee deep in some grime, pals.
2:00 am - putting cabinet doors on alone is harder than it looks. Major structural changes are complete. Taking a break to run to the store and get snacks before I finish tidying the office and move on to the front hall
Phase 1: close as many loops before 6:15 am as I can starting with finishing my FAWKING office here we go (I never finished redoing it and cleaning it).
12:26 pm:
Tidy it, lay down the rest of the contact paper, screw doors on, sweep floor
SO GUYS
WE GONNA DO A DUMBASS STUPID THING THAT I HATE
DONT TRY THIS AT HOME UNLESS YOU’RE AT LEAST LEVEL 9 ADHD
Please join me (no don’t join me I mean witness me) for a Toleration / Loop Closing All Night Speed Run/Sleep Reset
I generally try to model good sleep habits for my clients but phone addiction has been creeping up on me + increased evening childcare has meant my circadian rhythm seems to have naturally shifted to later. I don’t like it! Take me back to being a morning person!
I had this great plan to get so much sleep but then I didn’t follow it and now it’s 12:30 and I’m supposed to take on a newborn baby care shift for my roommate at 330 but also they might not need me to and also I have a client check in at 6:15 am and I’m WIDE AWAKE
Hmm maybe either/both?
The number of times I thought something was gonna take like HOURS and it took like … 15 mins 🤦♀️
