Imagine how much better the quality of politicians would be if we treated them, financially, like we do other professions that actually matter. All of these below start on way below Β£80k and, generally, you only get to a higher salary if you make a positive impact.

Who ironically was the last PM who wanted to change the country. But just in a really evil way. I know he wonβt be left enough for you, but Burnham? Feels like he actually wants to do stuff at least. Unless Iβm just helplessly hopeful.

I genuinely donβt get it. If I had the job of PM Iβd be thinking right, Iβve got four years, Iβm going to do this according to my principles. Hit it hard, realise I wonβt please everyone. And what I believe in either works or doesnβt. I realise there are complexities to the job, but still.

Probably 1% of all of this and how far it reaches will reach the public. But knowing this, at least, helps us realise that thereβs always another 99%.

Not for Furling and Heggem we didnβt. We had one bidder and one bidder only. And we need the money, especially given heβs an academy product. Only way we couldβve got more was an auction but no one else came in.

Aye. Looks like just Southampton this time round. They also know we need cash. And heβs not at the level yet to attract an auction of bigger clubs to push the price up. Feels like his ceiling is the Championship to me. Hopefully, Iβm wrong and we get a nice sell on chunk further down the line.

Tom Fellows does only one thing really well. Heβd be too easy to stop in the PL. So the fee seems ok for a good player at this level. If he had real pace or could cut inside and get goals it would be different and bigger clubs would be bidding more. Might develop but right now heβs a bit limited.

Genuinely, how long will it take for the majority to realise that the West picks and chooses its genocides based solely on its own economic and geopolitical interests? I mean, it couldnβt be in any plainer sight right now.

I absolutely acknowledge the downsides but it is also an amazing gift to have as well. And your work on here and Twitter really showcases it. PS: The @blindboyboatclub.bsky.social podcasts are a great touch point. Like you, he discovered his autism later in life and he talks about it so clearly.

What an incredible post. Iβve followed your work for a long time now, and as a neurotypical person I am relentlessly astonished by the data and patterns you share on here. I have no idea how you do that - well I guess I do nowβ¦

Absolutely agree with that approach. Just wish we were looking at someone who had done that at first team level. Even if it was further down the pyramid.

He might be, but the chances are slim. Every appointment is a risk but itβs much, much bigger when theyβve never been a head coach before. Youβre right about the fanbase; fingers crossed he gets off to a really good start.

Feels it. Iβm all for young managers but Iβd like to see a trajectory first. Many, many more assistant managers fail in their first role than succeed.

I wonder if weβll ever have a PM who so strongly believes in something, they donβt care if they lose the next election. Because Iβm not sure anything can get better for people until then.
