Eeeexactly, and tbh, couldn't possibly put it better. Not to preach to the choir, but being here isn't always a choice. Those of us still here just kinda have to either hope for the better or, if we can, keep working towards the better. We can't just, you know. Abandon things when things get rough.

I was about to say that just moving to another country in itself isn't always feasible, especially for people who are doing so *for* health reasons, but this is a very, *very* excellent point as well. D:

But the problem with that background is that politics aren't going to *stay* out of your bubble, and that's something Mick is learning. He still doesn't *lead* a war like, say Katniss, because it's not his place to do so, but he still learns and figures out where he's valuable and what he can do.

It's not that he meant to be, but it's more that Southwind has the luxury of being a small town where nothing much happened and where people might have opinions about politics, but politics is something that happened elsewhere. It draws a lot from my own experiences growing up in Bush-era PA, tbh.

Well, that and I'm slowly pushing Mick towards embracing his role as conductor/leader of the dragons, and it's a build-up of things. Like, I'll share this for FLF because it's already my favorite line, but in this chapter, we learn that Mick was actually pretty sheltered.

Incidentally, yes, I am very much in my beeposting era. I am absolutely going to post Beenjamin and bees; please feel free to unfollow/filter/do what you need to if bees are not your thing. :')

That said, I *am* still writing. It's just been slow because work.
