It is moments like this, as I sit here, reading a scanned online version of an old book about saltpeter manufacturing techniques to try and figure out what they do with the waste that is left behind, that I truly appreciate the beauty of the internet.

Alternately, it can be used to water the excrement fields, helping to form the next crop of saltpeter to be harvested.
As such, this process is best done close to the fields, so you don't have to transport it too far.
Then, the crystals of saltpeter must be removed from the mother liquor.
This mother liquor contains concentrated salts and other materials left over from the process, and it can actually still be valuable.
First, it may still contain some saltpeter, so it can be put back in the boilers for 🧵

During the process of boiling saltpeter to concentrate it, several byproducts are produced. They are all roughly as pleasant as the process itself!
As the mixture boils, a scum of organic material rises to the surface. This must be scraped off and disposed of. 🧵

Eloise immediately leaned back, hooking an arm inside the cabin of the van to slam something. The far side of the van split open, with gull-wing doors lifting up in multiple segments. "Boring shit is on that side. Ammo, fresh gun parts, fresh armor plates. Go, go, go." She waggled her free hand at the crew. Caoimhe and Dominika started to move with the group to unload, but Eloise called out again. "Which one's the werewolf?" Dominika awkwardly paused, giving Eloise a dry stare. Caoimhe couldn't help a little, stuttering stop, trying to assess if she could support Dominika or if she was supposed to keep rushing off to help the others. "Me," Dominika said with her squint. Eloise gave an evil little grin, and slammed something else inside the cabin.
