Girl and dog Dad, eccentric (the good kind - I hope), transit fan, politics-nut and Toronto dude. I love Canada with all my being. #ElbowsUp Quotes attributed to historical figures are often the work of the people who skeet them. ~ Aristotle

If the soccer team isn't Nordic they're not safe.

I Watched 6 Hours of DOGE Bro Testimony. Here's What They Had to Say For Themselves The hours of videos provide fascinating, or perhaps horrifying, insight into the thinking of someone inside DOGE.

What stands out to me is the arrogance. The surefootedness that this was the correct thing to do despite no experience in government. The presumption that they were entitled to use their own uninformed judgement to cut funds to things that they don’t personally value www.404media.co/i-watched-6-...

Thanks for resharing - I missed Eliza's original skeet...

Did you imagine this skeet being received any differently?

Again, I appreciate the answer.

I'm unaware of a country with a true, established democracy has followed that specific track, and given Canada isn't socialist, it couldn't happen here.

I don't see how turning our backs on the monarchy could lead to this happening for the first time.

Thanks

I appreciate your answers to my two queries and I think I understand, if not agree, with your positions.

You believe the Libs under Trudeau were too socially progressive, and tempering that makes for a bigger tent.

I called out an unusual conflation.

I don't see how anyone could suggest that's causing harm or not engaging in fruitful conversation.

A civil challenge is not an assault.

I'm puzzled. You speak about harmony between nature and people, seeking peace, defending and not offending - which all ring progressive in nature.

Why do you think NEW MODERATES are needed. Where do you see progressives having gone too far? Maybe this'll help me.

Sam Seder v. Anthony Furey: Libertarian Debate YouTube video by The Majority Report w/ Sam Seder

One of my favorite parts of the Majority Report are Sam's debates with Libertarians. The movement loses followers at the conclusion of each one.

I especially liked this one where Sam debated a one-time candidate for Mayor of... wait for it... Toronto! Can you imagine?

The right’s fixation on β€œvoter fraud” began not because it was any significant problem but because they were apoplectic after a Black man was elected president. Racists were terrified that barriers to equality were insufficient and so here we are, living in their fever dream.

I'm not seeing why what they're doing should be celebrated, either...

Am I missing something?

Is being preachy a moderate trait?

Whoa... A socialist communist republic? Those are two different things. Why conflate them?

There's nothing 'moderate' about singing the praises of the monarchy, and 'Thanks King'? Yeesh...

It's important that they never get written-off as cartoon villains just doing what villains do.

To celebrate that kind of loss and suffering is sick, and large numbers of Republican pols do it everyday.

Anyone who reads his skeet and still votes Republican is irredeemable.

I know how easy it is to forget that there are people behind the numbers.

I track and report on death; Disassociating is a protective reflex.

But never let yourself forget the brutality of war & disaster.

When you block out the pain, you are detaching yourself from humanity.

I look at where the NDP is in its regrowth, the seriousness of the dissolving relationship with the U.S., and the fact that Poilievre and the CPC are still out of their minds, and think this decision makes sense right now.

The NDP is simply not equipped to deal with the scope of this crisis.
