Has anyone studied or written about passive voice versus active voice and its use in science and social science? Passive voice often hides the “actor” in the sentence and therefore often obscures power structures and shifts the primary narrative.
As an indigenous person I intimately know the evils of Canadian colonialism. I have faced them all my life. The US using this treatment to justify violence against this nation is just more imperialist bs. Don’t use my people’s suffering to justify your own agenda. 🖕🏼thanks for highlighting it Wendel

I received a lot of feedback about actually being read to and having an experience of community connection. I’m so glad they were able to experience this together.
Yesterday I read Robin Wall Kimmerer’s “Skywoman Falling” to my students. I wasn’t prepared for how soothing it was for many of them to be physically read to along with the story itself.
New semester is here! I get to teach intro to indigenous literature and film!

Literally everything she said was because I’m non-binary. Also, I knew immediately that’s what was happening because it’s happened many times before. If you hate non-binary people and harass them, that’s discrimination.
