Dr. Rebecca Lee Crumpler, the first Black woman doctor in the US, graduated with her M.D. in 1864. She overcame significant barriers due to both racism & sexism & provided care to formerly enslaved people in the post-Civil War period. She died #OTD in 1895.

Yes. Presidential elections are binary and have been since before the Civil War. It's going to Candidate A or Candidate B. If you don't vote for A, your actions show that you're okay with B. The coin is not going to land on its edge, nor will it be snatched by a passing bird. A or B. That's it.

Trace as sum of eigenvalues and determinant as product of eigenvalues is one of my most favorite things about linear algebra!! It’s not about memorizing formulas (all of my assessments allow “cheat sheets”) but about exposure to the beauty of mathematics.

Because it literally takes 5 minutes to teach the concept and it can then immediately be used in the 2x2 eigenvalue formula (not to mention the useful numerical linear algebra applications later on)
