A watercolor painting of a rust red home on a winter day. Sunny with deciduous trees in foreground and partly cloudy sky with drivable snow path leading into an S in front of the house.
Midwest winter inspiration. The winter sun and shadow offer hints of warmth.
And what is his salary? $250k ballpark?
What size did you paint this?
Beautiful. I zoomed in to see the layers and brush strokes. I like the touch of blue and yellow vignette too- it makes the color details of the owl stand out. Always learning! Thank you for sharing.
It got me by surprise today too. Inversion layer was dramatic. I got into town and was like βmy truck is driving like itβs -30.β Look at temp, yep itβs -30. π«
A moment for the Kodiak student art displayed in the Capitol π
It was so beautiful yesterday, cannot imagine the wind up there though!

That is really cool Matt. I love your eye for architecture on campus. Iβm sorry that I will miss you presenting at the Fairbanks Watercolor Society in Feb.
Just gonna throw my kayak in and float. β€οΈ I love the Yukon through Whitehorse.
Iβll actually be there!
I hope you turn over some random thing and the shirt is just there.

No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientistβbecause the person felt she did didnβt deserve the recognition.
Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...
A set of 4 matted 9x11 watercolor landscapes of Fairbanks winter. Artist Tom Nixon.
Tom And Nelda Nixon First Friday art show. Tom Nixon teaches watercolor and oil in #Fairbanks #Alaska Heβs a wonderful teacher.
βEvery home should have a piece of original art.β Their motto.
Look at how Tom captures the winter light and color.
This is tasty art! perfect for #Juneau Animal Fundraiser! Bid on this!
Artists just have to try everything onceπ
I am learning this! My instructor says βthis is your paper, your pigment do what you want.β I need to develop a regular drawing practice as I love ink and watercolor like yours, Charlie Mackesy and Peter Sheeler. It Always captures my attention.
As a very beginner watercolorist my only thought is βhow?β The detail and what catches the eye is unique. Complicated, yet your mind fills in details and directions. A technical piece.
Scarborough Bay. We visited St Mary's church on that hill shown in the drawing and saw Anne BrontΓ«'s grave there.
Had a holiday in #Scarborough, Yorkshire, a decade ago and managed to do some on the spot watercolours and drawings there and in nearby Whitby. Such an inspiring place! I've been recently making winter use of the 100s of photos I took by drawing from them. Here's one in sepia ink of Scarborough Bay.
Those eyes are everything. What a beautiful bird.
Tax oil. The end.
Donβt lick it. PSA.
For February, being flexible with dates, I can get FAI > Dublin/Rome/Prague under $650. Why then is it almost $900 to get to Spokane or 75k points? I hate Atmos.

Iβve got a couple #Alaska book events coming up this month:
First, Valentineβs Day at Fireside Books in Palmer. Come say hi, talk about love and gravel and everything in between (a lot. Thereβs a lot in between)

I love this photo. You can feel the light and feeling of βmaybe I should bring in some wood for the fire.β
