it’s unreal how these grown-ass men had no problem destroying untold lives with chatGPT but go crying to a judge when people make fun of them online

BREAKING: Benjamin Netanyahu might be dead.

Ok, but it should either be a state or be independent. My point is that being under US control without voting rights is indefensible. So then a referendum for PR citizens on either independence or statehood. Does that meet your approval?

What a valuable contribution to the discussion. Well done.

Economy was shakier than it appeared heading into Iran conflict The U.S. economy was in worse shape in the weeks before the U.S. and Israel launched strikes against Iran than earlier government estimates had suggested.

Here's what recently released data shows:

ICE agents reveal daily arrest quotas and surveillance app in rare court testimony Under oath, officers said they were told to make eight arrests a day and given special tech to help choose ‘targets’

When a federal judge (finally) put ICE officers under oath, they admitted that they are given daily detention quotas and rely heavily on a Palantir-supplied AI tool to select targets, without warrants and without enough evidence to obtain one. They simply go into neighborhoods and round people up.

It's time, Texas. Vote for Talarico.

And that’s before you even start on healthcare, gun control, reigning in the banks, reframing the tax code, etc.

6) Media regulation. An independent body that licenses who can and who cannot own media channels in the USA. Because if you ran a channel that had to pay out £700m+ for lying about election security, you should not still own media channels.

5) Overturn Citizens United. Companies are not people and money is not speech and to decide otherwise simply legalised corruption in American politics.

4) Pack the Supreme Court. The Roberts court has zero legitimacy, thanks to Bitch McConnell, may he burn in hell. There are 13 federal court circuits, it only makes sense for there to be 13 supremes. Appoint 4 more and fuck Roberts, Thomas and Kavanaugh.

3) Election day is a national holiday. Allow those who slave from paycheque to paycheque to vote without consequence. Any measure that protects or promotes voting rights benefits the Democrats. That’s why the Republicans so desperately try to restrict them.

2) Statehood for DC and Puerto Rico. No taxation without representation, remember? There is no defensible reason why those paying US taxes shouldn’t be represented in the US congress. The fact that it gives the dems 4 more senators plus who knows how many house seats? Irrelevant.

The thing is, there are so many things the Dems could do to cripple the republicans without even violating their own ethics.

1) Remove the filibuster*. The republicans already removed it for anything they care about, now it only exists to allow them in minority to cripple the majority party.

Agreed. For all the admiration I have for Michelle Obama, and as much as I wish we lived in a world where “they go low, we go high” was a viable strategy, it just isn’t.

Starting to think the British press aren't coping too well with the Green Party wanting to tax wealth fairly.

This is the company the UK government has embedded in the nation’s services. Seriously, fuck everyone who is excusing this.

Why would anyone want to visit the US unless it was absolutely necessary. We could be arrested, detained, slapped in an ICE warehouse or summarily executed by an ICE agent who didn't like the look of us.
Stay away until the country actually grows up and stops playing at cowboys and indians.

You don’t see a problem with a leader who espouses strong moral points of view but refuses to stand up for any of them if it seems politically expedient?

And this is now the problem - the Rethuglicans have fundamentally altered the whole political landscape of the USA. Government by convention only works as long as both parties abide by the conventions. If one doesn’t then the other can’t - otherwise they are governing with one hand behind his back.

There is no legal bar to the president firing the AG. There is a moral bar to a president firing the AG because he wanted a prosecution of a political rival and the AG had decided not to move ahead with it.

That’s the difference between Trump and every other President before him.
