The announcement of the Balfour Declaration was one moment in a long history. How about the British promise of the same or nearby land to Arabs? How about British prohibition of Jewish immigration to Palestine during the time of the Third Reich? The history is not black and white.
The history isn’t that black and white. Sometimes the British were on the Zionist side and other times on the Arab side. And both Zionists and Arabs rebelled violently against the British at different times.
Didn’t work when the British had that role for 30 years.
I favor a two-state approach.
The one-state solution has been supported by many people on both sides of the conflict.

The Jewish military can’t be trusted in Gaza. The Jewish religious wackos in the West Bank can’t be trusted to be there peacefully. The Palestinian suicide bombers can’t be trusted in any of Israel. The two peoples need to be separated, sadly.
The two-state option is the only one that has a chance to afford autonomy and safety for both Jews and Palestinians. The two-state option is far *less* colonialistic — and oppressive — than the one-state option is. The current Israeli gov’t *and* the Jew haters are for the one-state solution.

This administration is committing Watergate level crimes multiple times per week—and those are the ones we know about. It’s crazy to think about what else will come out after.

I’m maybe a bit older than you. I felt hope for the USA when Clinton beat Bush in 1992 & also when Clinton was re-elected. But the 2000 & ‘04 elections soured me on having hope that sanity would prevail. I wrote off Obama pretty quickly, bcz he embraced Wall St. & killed the “public option.”
