I think we can see this tendency writ large, by the way, in the MAGA administration's approach to global policy: there are systems of power that have been set up to benefit them, and which require only that they exercise the tiniest modicum of restraint. They've smashed such systems immediately
I sometimes worry that it's glib to call this a rapist ideology, but I really don't know how else to frame it: it is a naked worship of the exercise of power for its own sake, against constraint, against others' will. It's rejecting the idea that there is anything you cannot do on a whim

That's why they accuse us of "denying reality", too. They are trying so hard to assert the idea that binary sex and traditional gender roles are a fact of nature that you cannot deviate from. Our existence, OUR reality, proves them wrong.
Patriarchy asserts that men and women are biologically distinct categories and that men are superior to women. It's really hard to enforce that idea when the line between those categories is blurred. Trans people blur the lines, so they have to get rid of us.
Folks need to understand that the Right isn't just coming after us to distract you from other shit, they're doing it to try and codify patriarchy into law.
This ruling says that it is right for the state to encourage citizens to "appreciate their sex/the innate differences between men and women".
You see this? This is exactly why I had to go off HRT.

An all-Republican 4th Circuit panel has just ruled that states can compel trans adults to "appreciate their sex" by enacting care bans.
It even directly says that trans adult care bans are legal in the ruling.
