Gamer Dad Bob - Bracket 2 Advocate

Love this. I've definitely been building this way more and more. Turns out my ideas are usually janky so they typically fall into bracket 2, but same idea still.

Lately I've had fun finding cards for the 99 that do weird/fun stuff and then backing a deck into that. Lower brackets of course. It's scratching brewing itch for me right now over higher-powered brews and "solved" decks.

Hey @benjithebrewer.bsky.social. I don't have your reach to "hey edh". When you build a deck, do you start with a commander or an idea or card interaction first? Does the bracket change that process? I've been building a lot more around like some funny card interactions and backing into a commander.

So my goal for #MCVegas is to play as much magic as I can. If that involves hanging out in the gathering grounds with the #PendragonMTG crew for half the con, I'll leave a happy man. I just wanna play more MTG. If you wanna play some games with me, let me know, it's my primary goal for this trip!

So, Wizards sent a survey to me about why I didn't attend TMNT pre-release. I was honest. But man, they're really digging for something. I also reminded them that a lot of their loyal player base is aging. I have a kid. I cannot spend half a day at pre-release anymore. It's not worth it.

It's been demoralizing as hell. I haven't played MTG since around Thanksgiving. I still think about things. I still want to enjoy this game. The world around us sucks too. It's hard. So what I'm saying is. I'm around. Just...quieter. If anyone you know needs an IT Leader with 15+ years of exp. HMU.

I'm not an individual contributor. I'm an IT Operations Leader and Strategist. I bring stability, order, structure, vendor relationships and negotiations. Operational excellence. The world doesn't want that now. They want SaaS and Dev/Ops and AI and hands on managers. It's tough. It's stressful.

Finding a new job is top priority after my current place I work denied me any kind of full remote work/continuity. And in doing so in an "at-will" state, I've now tipped my hand in doing what I thought was a courtesy. The job market...sucks. For IT Leadership it's very interesting.

So I've been quiet. I'm still here. Life has sucked a lot of time away from the joys I have in life. MTG has suffered...a lot. I dropped my first content last month and I'm afraid life has taken any semblence of a cadence away. Relocating to WNY is my priority for this summer now.
