Never really got into “Popular” then or now but hearing “Concrete Bed” on Sirius XMU around 2005 or so put them back on my radar in a big way. I absolutely fucking love The Weight is A Gift.
One of the more underwhelming “super” groups I’ve ever encountered.
I didn’t say it wasn’t an Etix venue. I was suggesting alternatives to big venues, Live Nation, & Ticketmaster but just as I surmised, it doesn’t really matter what I say, you’re going to shit on it.
If you want to only see the negative so be it. I’m referring to ticketing services that aren’t out there gouging concert goers. There are also shows that range from $5 to $15. You don’t have to limit your live music intake to Ticketmaster/Live Nation venues.
Have they discovered clubs, theatres and venues that use alternate ticketing services such as Etix?

2/ I watch pretty much zero TV or movies though the latter has more to do with a strict budget. I spend as much time in nature as possible which I definitely benefit from on all fronts. Tourist season is here which limit parking. There are (legal) alternatives largely depending on timing.
1/ I didn't really realize how I'd been effected by that until some of the restrictions started to be lifted. I'm reading and writing on more of a regular basis again. That said, I'm sure both would improve if spent less time online. Same for listening to music.
4/ His reasoning? He told me he was taking his show in a different direction. There's been no change in direction. He also closed comments on YouTube for the segment I'm referring to.
3/ A few years ago, after being invited to be a guest on a local former radio DJ's podcast, I commented on one his segments on FB where he put down people that wear earplugs to shows. I have no idea if it had anything to do with those comments but he decided to not air my segment.
2/ Trying to advise my fellow live music loving friends to also wear earplugs fell on deaf ears (no pun intended). I believe they must perceive it to be "uncool" and/or they've yet to experience any significant hearing loss.
1/ I started wearing them in my mid-40s when my ears didn't stop ringing after an especially loud local club show. My audiologist (a musician) said it was cumulative (I've been attending shows since the age of 13) & that I may have suffered some hearing loss due to fluid in my ears in my early 40s.
I love to listen to the Without A Net version full blast, windows down as a rite of spring/summer.

2/ I saw Buffett fans come around when they would see Mac McAnally at a small club & then rave about being able to meet him after the show as though it was a revelation.
1/ A mindset I’ve run into amongst some folks that don’t attend shows outside large venues is they believe artists performing at smaller venues are lesser or else they’d be playing at the Mega Dome.

If I’m a fan of an artist I’ll often check out their opening acts even if I’m not attending the show. This is how I got into Florry (opening for MJ Lenderman) & Slow Pulp (opening for Alvvays). When Slow Pulp came to town the opening act was Babehoven, who I love.
A fucking idiot on Tik Tok (not hard to find) comparing opening acts at concerts to ads you have to watch on YouTube before watching a video.

Eliminator is when they lost me. I picked up on changes with Tejas that were even more evident with Degüello. They were in full bloom on El Loco so it’s not like Eliminator was a complete left turn. Still, everything up to & including Fandango is my preferred era.
