Last month, several authors released a policy brief on why social determinants of health should be assessed in forensic mental health settings. The brief offers guided questions to help practitioners better support youth with juvenile legal involvement.

Respectfully, the gov is mistaken. Nobody is suggesting we eliminate addiction from our lexicon. Sub use disorder is a clinical diagnosis. Addiction is a conversational term that lacks the specificity to be useful clinically. They’re just different. The terms to get rid of are abuse, dirty/clean.
